Default How to: What to say at the DMV

If you want to get this bike legal and worry free, you must be serious about it and you should know what to say and what NOT to say. If you F_CK UP you can always come back another day! But lets not.

1. When it is your turn to sit down with the DMV person, the 1st thing you will say is:

"I want to register and get tags for my SCOOTER"

Do not say anything or mention anything with pocket bike, motorcycle or anything like that, or you will be risking.

2. They will then ask for your MCO, give it to them.

3. They will ask what CCs it has?
In florida, anything over 50cc you need a motorycle licence so if you dont have one you can lie and tell them its 49cc. IF you got a bike licence then simply tell them 110cc.

4. What kind of vehicle is it?

Tell them scooter, scooter scooter.

5. They SHOULD NOT ASK YOU THIS but you should be prepared just in case

Does it have mirrors, lights, certain clearance, techy questions, say YES to all.

6. They will ask where you bought it from and they will need to see proof
Tell them this was an online purchase, and that you have a confirmation recept, give it to them

7. They will ask if you payed taxes on it
Say No.

8. They will tell you that they will charge a % of the sales price on tax,
Say OKAY

9. They will tell you all costs, say okay and take your registration, sign some paper, pay at least 110.00 get your plates right there in less than 3 minutes and your good to go!!!!!!!

10. THEY WILL NOT REQUIRE YOU TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN, NOONE WILL EVER SEE YOUR BIKE, NOONE WILL EVER KNOW WHAT KINDA BIKE THEY JUST REGISTERED so relax and enjoy your legal bike!

good write up but wheelykings right most law enforcement cant stand these bikes and everyone knows it and they'll do anything they can to take it away. they'll open up their little handbook and start checking everything and if one thing is false they most likely wont let you ride away because the second they pull you over they're resonsible for your safety and everyone elses so to let you go would be risking their career.

its better to do the right thing and just get the motorcylce liscense and register it as a motorcycle that way you never have any problems. what you can say is it came stock with a 50cc but you just upgraded it and was going for a test ride and you didnt know that you needed to register it as a motorcycle if it was 110cc's but that only works once. nothing worse then having impound fees that exceed the price of the bike! not to mention how many tickets they nail you with.

The cops will never know unless they personally own or know a lot about the X bikes and its CC size.

Which means the chances of them knowing your CC size, after the DMV puts in 49CC is impossible.

Yes taking a risk about it is correct, but in honesty you will get away with it all the time. Like i said, unless the cop personally knows the engine size or has done a LOT of research on these bikes in his past or through his friends, then he could give u a ticket. You can always say you didnt know the correct engine size, but either way if you got a bike licence, just say its 110, if you dont and dont plan on getting one or CANT get one for a while, just say 49cc
There will be no problem, noone checks your CCs

the thing is the sound most cops can tell the difference and they are trained to read the cc's on an engine its stamped on just about every engine made not trying to argue because this is a good write up just stating the possiblities.

in most states theres scooter laws and 2 of them is the scooter must be able to do 20mph uphill and speeds no higher then 30mph or the bike can be inspected for modifications the only way to know is to check your states laws heres a link for the cali law and all the other states.
